The hand carving is genuinely nice. I wanted it for a charcuterie spread and the usable flat area is modest, so it suits a few items rather than a full board.
This plate has real heft, so it stays put on the table. A couple of faint mineral lines on the surface, which I think adds to it. Hand wash only as noted.
The carving on the rim catches light at dinner and the marble has natural veining that runs differently on each side. Used it for figs and cheese at a small gathering.
Marble plates with this kind of hand-carving don't come off a production line. Each one is cut from a single piece of natural stone, shaped by hand, and finished with the minor variations that separate a craft object from a manufactured one.
Originally used as food offering trays in India, these plates carry that tradition forward into modern interiors. Lay one flat on a coffee table to anchor a vignette, place it on a console beneath a lamp, or use it on a vanity to corral small objects. The stone surface reads as calm and unforced.
Because the material is natural stone, surface color and veining will differ from what photographs show. That variation is inherent to the craft.
